Prager University writes, "Is capitalism moral or greedy? If it's based on greed and selfishness, what's the best alternative economic system? Perhaps socialism? And if capitalism is moral, what makes it so? Walter Williams, a renowned economist at George Mason University, answers these questions and more."
With Socialist and Communist ideologies on the rise both abroad and here in America, how should Christians view the world? Do we want government to take from the people to redistribute as they see fit or do we stand with a free market system? As people of Godly destiny, knowing the answers to these sorts of questions will be critical once we find ourselves in the fullness of our purpose.
Have you ever wondered what might be at the root of the conflict in the Middle East between Jews and Arabs? Have you ever wondered why so many people are anti-American in their rhetoric? Could it have a similar root?
In this opinion piece, George Gilder provides us some ideas worth considering. He states, "How do you respond to people who excel you in invention, creativity, and wealth? Do you envy them? Do you feel their success somehow diminishes you? Or do you admire what they've achieved and try to emulate it? These questions sum up what I call "The Israel Test." As a current or future leader in the world of international diplomacy and politics, how will you carry the Spirit of Truth forth? Will you pray for the peace of Jerusalem? Will you seek to serve and lead through government agencies or from elected office? Whatever the calling, we hope and pray it is done in the fullness of your Godly destiny.
Do you agree that America is a place where people can be very successful? Do you wonder what makes that possible? If you are called to lead in the world of public service, then it is critical that you understand what makes the American model work.
Nick Adams offers us his perspective on what it is about our way of "working" that has worked so well. He shares, "What makes America different? There are many answers, but start with one you might not have thought of. Most people think America is all about success. I see it a little differently. I think America is all about failing. Most people in the world don't get the chance to fail. But Americans take it for granted." And we pray, that the Godly will who are called to lead our nation in service and love will discover, unlock and live their Godly destiny.
The Bible teaches in 2 Corinthians 3:17, "For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." (NLT) Do you value freedom? Do you believe that our freedoms are being eroded in America? Have you ever wondered why it is happening?
Robert George provides an insightful explanation of the issue. He opines, "We've drifted a long way from the original vision of the Founders. The further we've drifted, the more powerful the national government has grown, and the less free Americans have become. Freedom can be taken away, but it can also be given away -- out of sheer ignorance. If we Americans, we the people, want to get some of that freedom back, we need to read America's founding documents. All the freedom we ever wanted is there." Are you one who is called by God to help bring freedom back into our nation and the world? Then, consider this video as you discover, unlock and live your Godly destiny.
Are you comfortable with the idea that God has chosen people to serve through government and politics? Can you see how our government needs those with a Christian worldview to "occupy" until He comes?
To that end, Greg Gutfeld provides us some perspective on how we should poster ourselves. He shares, "Why are you Right? Yes, you, conservative person. Can you answer that question? I think it's so important that I wrote a book about it -- How to be Right: The Art of Being Persuasively Correct. Because if you can't be persuasive about why you are right, then we, the United States of America and the Republic for which it stands, are lost. So, here is the simple answer to why you are Right: It is a more practical, generous, and compassionate way to live. Let me explain:" To those of you with a call to civil service, we pray you discover, unlock and live your Godly destiny. According to David Lane, "At the American Renewal Project, we are asking 100,000 evangelical pastors to begin praying to discern if God is calling you to run for political office in 2016. School board, county commissioner, city council, mayor or Congress—every arena of government needs the "salt and light" of Christian witness and participation.
If the Lord were to call 1 percent of that larger number, then 1,000 pastors would run for office in 2016. And if they each averaged 300 volunteers per campaign, that would create a 300,000 grass-roots, precinct-level explosion from the bottom-up. It would ignite a spiritual movement in the public arena of America not seen since America's founding. Will you please pray about running for elective office in 2016? You may be thinking: "Why is this even important?" or "Does God even want us to be so concerned about politics and government?" Ronald Greer, a Methodist minister and author, wrote a book about the dark days of the Nazi takeover of Holland. Gestapo were everywhere and Jews were vanishing. Some Dutch Christians asked former missionary Hendrik Kraemer what they should do. He said to them, "I cannot tell you what to do, but I can tell you who you are. If you know who you are, then you will know what to do." Then Kraemer picked up his Bible and read to the scared Christians: "But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation" (1 Pet. 2:9). After hearing the Word of God, the people thanked Kraemer, left and started the Dutch underground resistance. So let me ask you—do you remember who you are? From one generation to the next, Christian courage is a requirement if we are to be found faithful. Even as the persecuted early church prayed for an increase in boldness (not freedom from persecution), the various crises we face in America in 2015 should cause us to do the same. And as we march forth in boldness, ready to do battle against our common enemy, the devil and "the spiritual forces in high places" (Eph. 6:12), we do well to remember that "our battle is not against flesh and blood." For those of us who as Christians are actively involved in politics—campaigns, elections, coalition-building, etc.—this must never be forgotten. We must know who we are, and we must know who our enemy is.
Do you have a destiny as a person of faith to be the salt and light to your nation? Then, this video is a must watch.
On November 9, 2011 at Convocation, North America's largest weekly gathering of Christian students, Liberty University honored our nation's service members and veterans in a special convocation service that featured Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin, an original member and former commander of the U.S. Army's Delta Force special operations unit. Boykin spoke on preserving the Judeo-Christian values upon which this nation was founded. He encouraged students to be involved in politics, to vote, to run for office and to get involved with organizations that support Christian values. Boykin's military career is extensive. During his 36 years in service, he has been involved in numerous clandestine operations globally. He led a task force in Colombia to hunt the notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar and helped capture Manuel Noriega in Panama. He commanded Delta Force during the Battle of Mogadishu, depicted in the movie Black Hawk Down. Boykin also served six years in intelligence and was a member of the National Security Policy Coordinating Committee for Terrorism. Today he is an ordained minister serving with the Kingdom Warriors ministry and a distinguished professor at Hampden-Sydney College. He is the author of "Never Surrender: A Soldier's Journey to the Crossroads of Faith and Freedom."
One of the ways we learn to fulfill our Godly destiny is to consider those who have gone before us and accomplished much. In the realm of political leadership, those who stand out are those who led during times of national and global crisis. Winston Churchill was just such a man, and we can learn much about political leadership from his life.
While this mini bio is by no means meant to provide the depth of Churchill's life and experience, it is meant to stir those who are called to political service by God. To encourage you to dig deeper into what it means to lead - from a political perspective.
This video lays out a great understanding of the Declaration of Independence. This is something every American citizen should be aware of and must be shared with future generations. The 4th of July holiday is a ritual designed to gather us with friends and family in remembrance of the what and why of our nation's independence.
Do yourself a favor and take a few minutes this July 4th to consider these higher principles and ideals. Also, ask the Lord if you have a role to play in America's preservation and restoration as a God fearing nation- for those with such a Godly destiny are desperately needed. |
