A Godly Perspective on Grief and Loss with Megan Marshman

10/7/2025

The following video, named "Grieve With Hope," is by Megan Marshman, who holds a Doctor of Ministry and serves as a teaching pastor at Willow Creek Community Church.

She shares not only about grieving the loss of death, but also about grieving the loss of anything in our lives: a marriage, a job, an estrangement from family members, the declining health of self or others, and other types of painful loss.

Goals of the Message:
1.) Recognizing What Grief Is
2.) Learning Why Grief is Important
3.) Learning to Grieve Well

Relevant Scripture: "All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ."

-2 Cor 1: 3-5 (NLT)

OUR PRAYER FOR YOU is that the Heavenly Father will enfold you with His love as you lay your burdens down at His feet. May the Lord give you peace, comfort, strength, and His Kingdom perspective on your loss, so that you can live in hope and purpose. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Do Yourself A Favor & Forgive by Joyce Meyer

9/30/2025

From the video description: "Don't be offended, do yourself a favor and forgive, don't take the opportunity to be offended, don't fall for the trap of offense, offense leads to bitterness and hatred, learn to forgive quickly."

Relevant Scripture:
Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
(Colossians 3:13 NLT)

“If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you.  But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins."
-Jesus
(Matthew 6:14-15 NLT)

About Forgiveness: As Christians, we forgive others because it mirrors the forgiveness we have received from God, remembering the great sacrifice Jesus made on the Cross to atone for our sins. The Bible tells us that we are to imitate God. (see Eph. 5:1-2) Extending forgiveness is a direct command from Jesus Christ, and also liberates us from bitterness and resentment. Forgiveness allows for spiritual growth, enables reconciliation, and breaks the cycle of past hurts, leading to greater peace and a closer relationship with God.  It is an act of compassion that reflects God's own mercy towards us and is essential for our spiritual well-being.

Our prayer for you is that you would recognize when the trap of offense comes into your heart and mind, and that you would submit that offense to the Lord and surrender it, forgiving those who have hurt you or offended you.

To forgive, you might follow these steps:
1.)  Acknowledging the hurt or offense
2.)  Asking for strength from God to release the hurt
3.)  Choosing to forgive that person, surrendering all the bitterness, hostility, or feelings of hatred you have held towards the offender to the Lord Jesus Christ
4.)  Remembering that God is the ultimate judge of wrongdoings
5.)  Praying for the offender

Remember, you may not feel like forgiving, but we are commanded to forgive. We choose to forgive.  We choose to pray blessings over the person who hurt us, in obedience to the words of Jesus: "But I say, love your enemies!  Pray for those who persecute you!" (Matthew 5:44 NLT)

Being obedient to the Heavenly Father by forgiving others will lead to  healing, peace, and life, so that you can walk in your Godly Destiny! Amen.

Study: Deeper Engagement With Scripture Can Lead to Improved Health and 'Increased Levels of Hope' by CBN News

According to CBN reporter Andrea Morris:

With the ongoing pandemic, many people have been battling mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, bitterness, and unforgiveness.

Doctors say emotional health is directly tied to physical health; however, new research shows people can dramatically improve their overall well-being by reading scripture.

John Plake from the American Bible Society discussed findings from a recent study, revealing that deeper engagement with the Bible can have a positive effect on people." In the midst of a pandemic and this sort of once in a century disruption we've been experiencing in America, we were interested to know, how does the Bible help people? We were extremely heartened to realize that in the midst of languishing and the struggle that the nation's been in, people who are deeply connected to the Bible and to Christian community are remarkably resilient," Plake told CBN's Healthy Living.

Plake said it's clear that stress levels have increased as a result of COVID-19, and that extra stress hasn't ended.
"Stress levels are extremely high. Every indicator of stress that we looked at, and there are 10 of them in the study, was up when the pandemic was really starting to take hold and people's lives were being disrupted," he explained. "Stress hasn't gone down, it's actually up. We saw that 48 percent of Americans say they've experienced a significant, traumatic event in lives."

Yet, research shows that people who are connected with a strong Christian community and deeply involved with God's Word were more apt to overcome certain challenges.

"What we discovered was if people were scripture-engaged, meaning more than just putting in time to read the Bible, but a consistent interaction with the Bible that begins to shape people's choices and transforms their relationships with God, with themselves and others," Plake said. "When deeply engaged with scripture and allowing it to touch their hearts, we see significantly decreased levels of stress."

"We see increased levels of hope. Some of the highest levels of hope for the future are among people who are closest to the Bible. Then lastly we see among people who have been traumatized that people who are scripture-engaged are more likely to forgive those who might have hurt them. Even if those people didn't ask for forgiveness."
Plake said the bright spot in 2020 and 2021 is that the American Bible Society recorded a substantial rise in Bible users.

"We saw an increase on the order of 12 million people who are now using the Bible at least occasionally that weren't before. We went from about 169 million people who use the Bible at least occasionally to 181 million people that were recorded in January of 2021. That's really good news."

Consistent time with God's Word and the importance of going to church were also examined during the study.
Plake noted that involvement in church and the faith community can provide answers for those who are hurting.
"In this time when people are struggling with grief, displacement, disappointment ... their hopes have been dashed in many ways for many people across America, I think it's an opportunity for the church to say there's a bigger picture here. There's a bigger story here and there's a community of people who love you," he explained.
"The church provides that community of people who love you, the Bible provides the bigger story. The Bible is the story of how God is at work in the midst of our struggles to overcome those struggles and bring about a preferred future and the hopes that we all have for a better life."

We pray that your time spent reading and engaging the message contained in the Bible, along with enjoying the fellowship of other believers, will help you to enjoy better overall health so that you can Discover, Unlock, and Live your Godly Destiny! Amen!

Please START the VIDEO at 1 hour, 23 minutes...
In this video, Joyce Meyer unwraps John 5:5-8 and II Corinthians 3:17-18 in a way that will help you move toward total person wholeness and as such, unlock your Godly destiny.

John 5:5-8 declares, "One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years.  When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, “Would you like to get well?”  “I can’t, sir,” the sick man said, “for I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone else always gets there ahead of me.”  Jesus told him, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!” (NLT) and 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 states, "For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. (NLT)

From this Scripture, Joyce explains how to receive healing by:
  1. Receiving God's love.
  2. Not determining your value by how people have treated you.
  3. Understanding the nature of emotions and learning how to manage them.

And, how implementing these ideas leads to:
  1. Freedom.
  2. Justice.
  3. Double Reward for Everything Lost.

We pray that Joyce's message will forward your journey to total person wholeness, which unlocks your Godly destiny.

Brokenness and Wholeness Part One by Joyce Meyer

Please START THE VIDEO AT 55 minutes: In this video, Joyce Meyer unwraps Isaiah 61:1-8 in a way that will help you move toward total person wholeness and, as such, unlock your Godly destiny.

Isaiah 61:1-8 declares, "The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord’s favor has come, and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies. To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory. They will rebuild the ancient ruins, repairing cities destroyed long ago.  They will revive them, though they have been deserted for many generations.  Foreigners will be your servants. They will feed your flocks and plow your fields and tend your vineyards. You will be called priests of the Lord, ministers of our God. You will feed on the treasures of the nations and boast in their riches. Instead of shame and dishonor, you will enjoy a double share of honor. You will possess a double portion of prosperity in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours. “For I, the Lord, love justice. I hate robbery and wrongdoing. I will faithfully reward my people for their suffering and make an everlasting covenant with them." (NLT)

From this Scripture, Joyce explains how to:
  1. Not live wounded.
  2. Receive healing.
  3. Spend your life helping others.

And, how these ideas are based upon the Biblical principles of:
  1. Believing God can work anything out for good.
  2. Totally forgiving others.
  3. Renewing your mind.

We pray that Joyce's message will forward your journey to total person wholeness, which unlocks your Godly destiny.
