In this short video, asapScience introduces us to how our brain processes information, and as such forms conclusions.  From this information, you can see how perceptions form that may not be true but are simply a function of how our brains operate.

By knowing this, you will be better equipped to approach things in life with humility and greater compassion.

We pray that this information is one more tidbit of knowledge that will help you approach life with the sort of patience, kindness and understanding of yourself and others which unlocks your Godly destiny.

Not a Fan by Kyle Idleman

Not A Fan trailer from River of Life Church on Vimeo.

In this video, Kyle Idelman speaks with us about the difference between being a fan of Jesus and a follower of Jesus.  What does it really mean to pick-up your cross and follow Jesus?

Kyle shares, "that a fan is: an enthusiastic admirer.  In the Gospels, Jesus never seemed too interested in fans.  Is that how you define your relationship with Him?  An "enthusiastic admirer"? Close enough to Jesus to get the benefits but not so close to require sacrifice?

He was looking for followers. Not just any follower though, but a...COMPLETELY. COMMITTED. FOLLOWER. How would things change if you lived as Jesus lived, and loved the way He loved?
Maybe you’re ready to join the hundreds of people who have stepped across a line and said: I AM NOT A FAN"

By committing yourself to truly following Jesus, you will find yourself ever closer to unlocking your Godly destiny.

Why Ted Talks Don't Change Behavior by Tom Asacker

In a moment of irony, Tom Asacker shares with us why learning something new does not generally translate into taking action which changes things for the better.

According to Ted, "Author and speaker Tom Asacker wondered why so many people watch TED talks and yet so few change their behaviors as a result. His answer? That only one of three elements of our irrational, but innately human, decision-making process truly makes for lasting change."

Tom's ideas will challenge you to think about your dreams and desires and hopefully act on them.

Spoiler alert - having your "identity" in Christ's destiny in you, as the dream and desire of your life's purpose, will make all your educational effort translate into positive action for change.

How To Learn Leadership by Robert Steven Kaplan

According to this Forbes interview, "Kaplan said, “Leadership is one of the most important aspects of our society, yet there is enormous disagreement and confusion about what leadership means, and whether it can really be learned. I argue that leadership qualities are not something you either have or you don’t. Leadership is about what you do, rather than who you are, and it starts with an ownership mind-set.”

Kaplan says, learning to lead involves three key elements:
  • Thinking like an owner
  • A willingness to act on your beliefs
  • A relentless focus on adding value to others

“Leadership is accessible to each of us, but it requires a process of hard work, willingness to ask questions, and openness to learning,” he adds. “In the book I really try to demystify leadership and outline a specific regimen that will empower the reader to build his or her leadership skills. You need to ask yourself probing questions, and then take follow-up steps that will help you develop your skills, create new habits, and move toward reaching your unique leadership potential,” he concludes.
"

Robert Steven Kaplan- the former Vice Chair of Goldman Sachs, Harvard professor, venture philanthropist, and author.
