Breaking Down Strongholds Part 2 by John Paul Jackson & Patty Mapes

We must take every thought captive to Christ.  Why?  Because it helps us perceive the world around us with God's truth.  It also helps us to stay faithful to the path which God has set before us.  You see, God really wants the best for you and He does not want you bogged down by self-limiting thoughts.
Unfortunately, it is all too easy to fall into thought patterns which exalt themselves above the Knowledge of God.  It is therefore critical that you resolve to pull these strongholds down and think upon the purposes of God in your life and in your family lineage.

5 tips about strongholds from teaching part 2:
  • How we think about ourselves truly affects who we are and can keep us in bondage
  • Strongholds set themselves up against God’s knowledge and opinion of us so we will lose sight of who He says we are
  • Strongholds will suppress your faith and will keep God from being able to act on your behalf
  • A telltale sign of a stronghold operating in your life is a recurring “Why me?” mentality
  • Strongholds not only affect your own life, but they can also keep your children in bondage to the same things
Pulling down strongholds:
  1. Acknowledge the stronghold
  2. Repent of it

Breaking Down Strongholds Part 1 by John Paul Jackson & Patty Mapes

The Apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, “It is true that we live in the world, but we do not fight from worldly motives. The weapons we use in our fight are not the world's weapons but God's powerful weapons, which we use to destroy strongholds. We destroy false arguments; we pull down every proud obstacle that is raised against the knowledge of God; we take every thought captive and make it obey Christ.” (GNT)
In this video series, John Paul Jackson and Patty Mapes explain how important it is to break negative strongholds, so that we may come into agreement with God’s purpose and destiny for our lives. Strongholds keep people from their destiny. Some of the common types of mental strongholds are offense, failure, judgement, human reasoning, and opinions that do not agree with what God says about an issue. The battlefield is in our minds.  We need to overcome strongholds by taking every thought captive to obey Christ, and by seeking first the Kingdom of God- focused on His plan for our lives and not our selfish desires. We should not allow our thoughts to separate us from God.

5 Tips about Strongholds from the video teaching:
  • Strongholds are arguments against what God says we are
  • Strongholds are gateways that allow demonic access into our lives
  • Stronghold attitudes keep us from embracing Christ-likeness and keep us believing our actions are justified
  • If we embrace an offense, it is able to take root and grow into a stronghold of offense
  • When you have a stronghold of failure, it can lead to spiritual paralysis which can keep you from trying anything new
